Virgin Island: Expect The Unexpected

Summer has finally arrived! Everyone should be getting ready for a more fun and exciting summer vacation. During my short summer vacation in Bantayan Island, I was invited by my friends to an island hopping to Virgin Island.

Virgin Island - a small island which is a short boat ride from Bantayan Island where an untouched long white sands and crystal clear blue water awaits. The island is known for it's been flocked with tourist during the Holy week season. The island is inhabited therefore there are no electricity and water systems.

The is part of the island where people mostly gather is the part where they can enjoy the long white sand and the cottages are placed. We really did enjoy the beach experience although it's sort of populated during our visit. The place is very relaxing.

After swimming, we tour around the island. On one side of the island where there are fewer people you can see we saw a trail with a signboard saying "Expect the Unexpected". Out of our curiosity, we follow the trail and then discover the place that I couldn't imagine. I felt the nature all around. Nothing you can hear but only thing song of the birds and the splash of ocean waves.  At the end of the trail, we finally witness the unexpected. It's a quiet shoreline where no other people around. It feels like we own the beach for a moment.

Going to Virgin Island requires a negotiation from the boat owners. Usually, they charge around P1000 to P2000 back and forth depends on the size of the boat. Entrance fee the island is  P500 for the first two persons and P100 each for the succeeding persons.

  1. Hi Jace. So basically, what is the advisable range of money to bring when in a group e.g. 10 persons? (Individual expense)

    1. Hello Jay, thanks for dropping by. For me, you better bring enough money like about 2.5K each. Fare from Cebu to bantayan is about P800. If you're lucky enough to find good boat owners who can offer 1thou (so P100 per pax) for back n forth.
